Privacy Policy

Less List is built around a simple idea: your lists belong on your device, not on our servers. This Privacy Policy explains what little data the Less List app ("App") and website at lesslist.app ("Website") process, and why.

The short version

• The App stores your lists locally on your device. We never see them.
• No account, no login, no profile.
• The Website uses minimal, privacy-respecting analytics — no advertising trackers.
• We don't sell or share your personal data.

1. The App

What's stored on your device

Your list names, list items, and check states are saved in local storage on the device where you use the App. They never leave your device unless you choose to share them (for example by copying text into another app).

What we collect

We don't collect your list contents. We may receive aggregate, anonymous crash reports and basic device information (model, OS version, App version) through Apple's standard App Store and crash reporting tools, and only if you opt in via your device settings ("Share With App Developers" on iOS). This data can't identify you and doesn't include your lists.

Permissions

The App does not request access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone, photos, or notifications. If a future version asks for a permission, it will explain why before requesting it.

Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from them.

2. The Website

What we collect

When you visit lesslist.app, our hosting provider records standard request logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp, referring page) for security and reliability. These logs are retained for a short period and then deleted.

We use a privacy-respecting analytics tool to count visits and see which pages people read. It does not use advertising cookies or build a profile of you across sites. Where consent is required by law, we ask for it through our cookie banner.

Email

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it to reply to you and keep the message for as long as needed for support and our records.

3. Legal bases (EEA / UK)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on these legal bases:

• Legitimate interests — running the Website securely, understanding aggregate traffic, replying to your messages.
• Consent — for any non-essential cookies or analytics where required.
• Contract — providing the App you downloaded.
• Legal obligation — keeping records we're required to keep.

4. Sharing

We don't sell your data. We share limited data only with the service providers needed to run the Service (e.g. our website host, the App Store, crash reporting), and only as required by law.

5. Retention

Your list data lives on your device for as long as you keep the App installed. Website logs are kept briefly. Emails are kept as long as useful for support.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, email hello@lesslist.app. Because we don't hold your list contents, most rights apply only to the limited data above (logs, emails). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. International transfers

Our service providers may process limited data outside your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For material changes, we'll give reasonable notice on the Website.
